Pistol Shooting Competition

#
Note: This event has already passed.

MWR Recreational Shooting Range will be hosting a Pistol Shooting Competition!

Pre registration is highly encouraged; There will be 3 divisions for this competition: Men’s Women’s, and Youth divisions. Top three shooter from each division will be presented a plaque. Event check in starts at 0900 and ends at 0945. The event will start at 1000 with a safety brief and shots will be fired at 1015.

Participants must provide their own registered firearms and ammo.

 Entering the firing line:

Ensure that participants enter on the left and place their firearm on their table. They will give their score card and target to the runners. Runners will then go down range and place targets. Once the runner’s complete placement and are clear of down range the RSO for the station will tell participants to load their firearm and fire when ready. After the last participant completes all their allotted shots for the station, RSO will check the weapons for a cleared status and runners will go back down range to retrieve the targets for participants, mark the shots and place the score on the corresponding scorecard. Once participants have their scorecard and target back they can exit to the right and transport the scorecard to the score tent.

Weapons

Most standard caliber pistol rounds can be used for this competition. Minus the 50 Cal desert eagle and the .556 rifle/pistol rounds. This competition will be conducted with Iron sights only, no optics in the interest of keeping divisions to a minimum and running smoothly. Rim fire is acceptable but keep in mind most rim fire round will not move the steel, making it a little more difficult to judge.

Weapons adjustments:

Firearms are only to be handled on the line. We will have a weapons staging area to the left of the pistol range designated for weapons adjustments.

Thank you. Remember Safety First and anyone can call cease fire at any time for any safety concern. We will fix it and drive on.

Target distance and scoring:

Pistol: Paper 15 Yards: 10 shots on a paper target at 25 yards. Each paper target will be the standard 8.5 X 11. The goal is to put as many rounds in the bullseyes.  Total possible points = 10

Pistol: Steel 25 Yards: 10 Shots at a steel dueling tree. The goal is to hit the steel target. A hit is worth 1 point. Total possible points = 10

Pistol: Steel 50 Yards: 10 total shots at 50 yards on a steel silhouette with a bullseye center. Each shot is worth one point and the center/bullseye shot is worth two points. Total possible points =12 In this iteration participants will load 5 rounds and shoot one round per target. The center target is worth 2 points if the bullseye is clearly hit. Once the first round is scored, participants will load 5 more rounds and fire at the same targets a second time for a total of 10 shots.
